In September 2010 The Cadillac Fairview Corporation announced the opening of the $277 Million-dollar expansion to its landmark luxury retail property, Chinook Centre in Calgary.  Designed by Gabriel MacKinnon, the central element for the main courtyard features two of the largest and most dramatic crystal chandeliers in Western Canada, each with over 250 crystal icicle assemblies, and 1000-plus independently addressable LEDs allowing the designers to program numerous visual effects.  These chandeliers truly sparkle!

Ductal®, known for its unique combination of strength, ductility, durability and esthetics, allows architects, engineers & designers  to create  designs with new shapes that are thinner, lighter, and more graceful. Blended with metallic or polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) fibres, it is significantly stronger than conventional concrete.  Ductal® can replicate texture, form, and shape with extreme precision. A polish-like finish can be achieved right out of the mold. Starting from a pure  white, colour pigments may be added to the premix for a homogenous colour not usually found in concrete.  Available  through a very limited number of distributors, Lumid is the only lighting manufacturer with access to the material.
